BBD had a nice question in the last version of the forum and I just wanted to add it to the new forum!
Oldest Zippo in your collection?
bigbaddad Posted: Aug 26 2005, 04:43 PM
Ok I figure we should get down and dirty with some serious Zippo talk.My oldest is a early 37.Next oldest is a 41 with a later nickle silver 14 hole insert and some engravings from the Pacific during WWII. I have a chrome black crackle model, after 41 but before the black crackle still made of steel.very early 42 replaced four barrel with a later three barrel, with engravings and a set of silver jump wings from the war in Europe and a plain black crackle in mint unstruck condition.Whats your oldest and if you remember how did you come to own it.Mine were all flea market finds and very cheap in price.Jeff aka bigbaddad

As i've stated in the other thread I buy zippo's for their textures to try in tricking, so my zippo's get bashed up... so no looking for rare/old lighters for me.
My oldest is an 02

The oldest Zippo I have is a 1989 brushed brass. It's not that old, but hey it was cool that I found out with the original price tag and got it for $12.99 CDN

Blue. That "47" just about describes how I feel most mornings. Especially the hump back do-hicky thing. There might not be much snow left on the roof, but ya can always count on firing her up. Might take a couple of extra zips, but once that puppy lights off...oops, havin a senior moment. Any one got any leads on a "47" let me know. Figure it's always good to carry and use something as old as I am. My oldest is a "53" steel case, correct insert, large hinge, brushed chrome daily user bla bla bla. And the beat goes on.

My oldest is a '43 Black Crackle (Case). I got it at the '04 Zippo swapmeet. It only had about 2% of the paint left. It has since been cleaned and repower coated black crackle. And a Repo '41 insert installed. One of my fav to carry and use.
Next i couldn't say, i have a '47, '49, a bunch of early '50's a few nickle cases with orignal inserts. A few Steal Cases.

Well I got lucky a few years ago and got what I finally decided was a 37'. I was hoping that it was a 36 :-( but I am happy with just it ...for now, lol. I have some Canadian Pat Pends that could be 49's and a couple of 40's and several 50's. While we are on this topic...does anyone have any thoughts about what year they call vintage. I have heard some say anything below 1980.
