nothing wrong with replacing the pin in my eyes at least, Jules. If you need advice I or many others can help in what tools to use!

thanks bob,Ive not done one before but I'm pretty good with those sort of things.a quick run through would be appreciated as I'm sure some of you guys are experts with a few choice tricks up your sleeves.if the pin was replaced then the lid would fit properly.Ive still got a set of armorers punches,I'm sure they will come in handy.

dunno if the armourers punch will be small enough but the best method that Jeff taught me aways back to remove the pin is a watchmakers pin press. They can be found cheap enough on eBay and do the trick right well. For a replacement pin I sift through the small finishing nails I have and get one the right diameter then press it in and trim off the excess with a dremel cutoff blade. This tends to work well enough but sometimes the inner barrels have stretched a bit and the fit can still be a tad wobbly. I recall Flea mentioning that he has in his fix-it kit a pair of needlenose pliers that he has curved to tighten barrels. Sounds like a plan, that. Here's one I found on eBay: [red]watch pin remover[/red]

A bit of humour for you guys who aren't in Click - I've copied this from my post over there. Another wierd find!Still waiting for it to arrive but here's some pics. It was made in Australia from a cane toad (they were introduced there to sort out some sort of problem & ended up becoming a pest) - the eyes are plastic but I love the slightly dazed look. Being part French & having a French wife kinda justifies wanting to use it ;-)

wrap it in tape so you dont scratch the lighter i replaced one on mine because the Repair clinic put one of them "expanded pins" it was imposible to trick with because the lid wouldnt move on its own, at first i used some toothpicks (SF idea) but that wears down. i used an old hinge pin and tightend it down
freespirit- is that thing made out of toad skin!

Matt, yes - all toad! Was talking to someone who lived in Queensland,Oz 'tother day & apparently in the past they've made all sorts of things out of cane toad leather - belts, hat strips etc etc. Although they're trying to eradicate them (they're rapidly spreading further & further south) they've become an unofficial symbol of Queensland - the biggest ones can get up to more than 2kg. They have glands at the back of their head that secrete poison & were introduced from South America

Nothing worth shouting about, but these are my latest two: £16 for the pair. Both unused, but the For Real was box-less. Not bad to say the RRP is £22 & £21 respectively.

Thanks for the offer, but it'll see more use than storage so I'm not in need of a box. That little black number has become my new fave; I don't even want to use it, I just like to hold it... is that weird?

oldno7, I tried to use my '43 as well but found that the spark was quite poor from the old horizontal flint wheel. You don't have that problem?
