dont know where else to put this one.recently at work one of my agency lads was looking over my shoulder whilst i was in this site.he told me that zippos were in fact made in prisons by prisoners.the markings on the bottom of the zippo told which prison the zippo was made in.it took me a good 40 minutes to correct him, still think he thinks he was right.thing is i heard the same thing many moons ago also.is it just a brit thing or what??

I'd heard that story some time back as well...where do they get this stuff from?

That one, Jules, & the other one (the letter on the bottom stamp signifies the grade/quality, A=top notch B=not quite so good etc) are soooo common it's not funny & like you say trying to convince those people otherwise is a mission even if you show them a dating chart. I've found the "quality" story seems to be more common in Asia whereas the prison story is more common in the west.

There was a time back decades ago when license plates for cars were said to be made by inmates but I never saw anything to support this either. What is it with inmates and metal stamping anyway?
