How to post a picture (pix)

Thought I'd add this topic so it doesn't get lost in another.

So how to post a pikture

1) Go to a site on the internet thad hostes piktures (i use www.putfile.com/ )

2) uplode the pikture from your pc to the putfile site

3) when its uploded you see your pikture with 3 url's behind it take the one where BB stands for copy it and then paste it in your message at the LL Board

the pikture is then displayed in the forum

try it you will see its very easy

the site I use to post pictures into for uploading is photobucket.com.
I'll walk you through this Jeff and hopefully it'll work!
-register for free to the site
-go to "add a picture" and click "browse"
-search your computer for the pic you want and "submit"
-the pic will now appear in your album
-click the URL window to highlight it and "copy"
-now, when you post a reply here go to "add tags" and the second row, fourth from the left button will read "insert image" when you move the cursor over it
-click this button
-(img)(img/) will appear in your message window
-paste the URL between the "][" brackets (I've used the () brackets above as using the [] brackets messes things up)

It sounds a bit much but after doing it you'll get the hang of it Jeff!

Something to keep in mind if you post a pic or personal avatar from an image hosting site: do not move that image into another folder! If you do the URL will change and the pic will no longer register in this site.

(I know that I mentioned this in a nother thread so please don't smite me for cross posting! hahahaha... ;D)

an image host is the best way, websites change every now and than too.

Ive mastered posting the pictures,now I'm stuck on taking good photos of shiny zippos.some one mentioned scanning??is there a good way of photographing??

start with the purchase of a good camera....hahahaha!

Sidelighting is always a good way to avoid reflection in the lens as well as taking the pics outdoors under natural light. A tripod will also help avoid vibrations and make for a clear photo.

ive got a good camera you smelly canadian purple headed warrior,thanks for the side light tip though.we dont get any natural sunlight,it just pisses it down in blighty.

if you have photoshop... file>save as under format save as Compuserve Gif. not sure what you do if you dont have PS but im sure ull figure it out

any program, freeware or whatever developed after 2001/02 should have support for Gif, compuserve lost its patent so now any develper can use it for free

if you got photoshop/elements use the save for web dialog box, gif only supports 256 colors+transparency, so its only useful for cartoonish web art.

hehehehe.... ;D...sunlight? You don't get sunlight from what I recall, it's always overcast & pissing rain there!

Which of course is ideal: overcast light is the best for outdoors photos to give even light distribution without shadows.

youre not wrong there bob our weather is pants.i wouldnt come here for a holiday,you must be mad.will try some outside phots though.

Here is how I'm making a pictures of shiny/high polish zippos. You have to take a white piece of paper and hold it like on this picture:

This way you will not see your camera or finger in the zippo (like in the mirror) and it will be easier to get all the details of your zippo. You should have a sun or white light behind you. White paper will spread/diffuse the light and your zippo will be in a small shadow but still not to dark to make a good picture. last think is - don't use a flash.
