Zippo tried a new cotton thing. It didn't work out to well. I think they did it in '67 or '68. i think, don't have my book in front of me. It didn't even last a year. so it's kinda rare. As in don't throw it away.

But when you replace the wick. don't cram the wick at the top of the insert. Get the wick to go down the side of the insert and tuck the rest under the felt. That way the wick can draw fluid from the whole cotton block.

I'd be interested to know what book you are looking in, as I can't find any reference to this in any of the books I have (Maybe I'm not looking hard enough!)

Standard cotton wool balls, from most chemists will do the job, 4 or 5 should be enough, don't overpack them.

I know a guy in FLA. who said he repacks with them, he say that they more absorbent then cotton I wonder if Bounty paper towels will work? ;D

While we're on that subject then...

A man walks into a pharmacy and wanders up & down the aisles.
The sales girl notices him and asks him if she can help him.
He answers that he is looking for a box of tampons for his wife.
She directs him down the correct aisle.
