i like how there is an indent ont the hinge it makes it interesting but wouldnt it look strange when closed? and what does the bottom look like

EDIT 2: so if the whole thing is wood how did you get the wood on there? is it epoxied??

Being that the wood is much thicker then the metel of the case it has to be notched to open and close.The bottom I left open so you would be able to see it's a zippo inside.I used acrylic liquid to fill in the bottom so you can still see the bottom stamp but it can't get ruined.Jeff aka bigbaddad

I made the shell first to fit a 41 replica.I like the way the square sides fit.The old holgate wood Zippos have more gaps around the lighter case and do not fit as well as my design

Son 21 in Nov.Daughter 8 now and my youngest is 4.My girls are the ones who labeled me bbd.I guess the long hair and winter bushy beard give the impression I am the bigbadassdad so that how that came about.My 8 year old gave me the nick name when she was just 5 and it just stuck.My 8 year old had all the date codes but slips up once in a while.She is my flea market partner and has picked me out some great prize Zippo's.Jeff

my daughter's four and she has five zippos...of course, they all have Ziplights in them and she uses them for flashlights when it's dark, but she calls it her "collection"

Thank you all for your worm words.
Ziplight insert is a great idea. That way I could give the lighter to my son earlier. He will get it as soon as he will be able to say "give me my zippo". He is two months right now so ... not yeat.
