I dragged this thread from the old site only because I figured it might still be helpful to our members.
I don't know if it's ok to start a thread but if it's not just let me know.I had started a post on re-paint options on click and figured it might be of some help here also. Many of us have some very nice lighters with pretty cool graphics. The trouble is many of them have bad paint loss.I have found that going to a local trophy shop is a good way of having color added to worn graphics. My question now is how many of you have if any have tried to re-paint on their own and how every one feels about have a Vintaga lighter re-colored.Jeff aka bigbaddad

I'll weigh in on this one again, I think for those Zippos that have some paint left and are going to be display-types, it would be great to get them repainted, especially if it matches the original colors. What are some good ways of getting this done? Zippo does it, but I'm not sure of the procedure you must go through to get it done.

Yes, it is true Zippo will do re-paints but, they will charge a pretty high fee for just one color. If they are not sure on the colors they will do them all in one color. That kind of kills the reason for having them re-done.Jeff aka bigbaddad

Ouch I didn't know that....for producing the best lighter ever, they sometime have no common sense...

ive been reliably informed that zippo charge $35 for a one sided repaint plus $10 for a lid.im seriously considering refurbing a couple of mine.started on one the other day ,a canada pat pend 1950.took all the bits out of the insert and put them safe in a bowl, everything was original wick etc etc.cleaned the insert and case and left to dry, next job repaint.got up the next day to find wife had thrown all the insert bits in the bin??harry redders over here at the moment but descided to go through the bin, i was sick in it,bad smell.LOST ALL MY BITS,gutted.still going to get it repainted after i find out the correct colours, then i will try to find original 1950 insert bits.
