one very intersting point i picked up from the bradford swap meet was,no one knows everything about zippos.people who have written books could not answer questions from your normal collector.i thought i new a bit,but 90% of conversations went way over my head.i can say though the people in our circle over there were more than willing to share what they new.so no matter what the questions you have, shoot em out.there is a massive world out there in so many fields.

Oh no not a new thong!!!Jules you are a trip!!! As for the book writers Dirk is 100% correct. Most have gotten more info from others then they will ever have in their own heads.Too bad really because they put out the impression they know something we don't.Only for us to find they really don't have the answers we think they should.Oh well most of the fun comes from finding out yourself anyway.I think that is why I did not have any books til a few months back. ps just don't expect to see a photo of me in mine.

dangerous dave asked a few questions to one of the new book sellers both times he replied "i dont know".i as the people we met are more than willing to share, which in this day and age is a special trate, tooo many people keep it to themselves to make themselves feel good, that is not so special.

Well said mates...we definitely need more sharing of knowledge. We may compete on the field for lighters (Jeff... ) but there is no reason to withhold information other than to cover up one's ignorance. and Jules...had I known you were getting dressed up and doing something special with Kerry I'd have rung you up!

I totally agree with Jules, If someone askes a question, and I know the answer, I will try to reply. There is no point in sitting here keeping info to yourself.
As for the Thong, It must be a British thing, but I must admit I only wear mine when I go to the Rocky Horror Show - Photos avalialbe to those over 21 only ;D

I always share the knowledge. These so called experts don't know any more than you or me, they just know different info, and the info they got is from people like you and me. I am a hobbiest in the field of Zippos. My special power is in repair. Personaly i don't give a thong if the first zippo was made on a Thursday......... or was it Tuesday? And GGB was wearing a lepard thong at the time. Not my cup of tea. We all know bit's and it's the collective that makes this hobby fun. As for experts, we all are experts. So don't invest to much star power to these people who need their egos stroked. My two cents, Spanish Flea

For those of you not in the "Click" - I have spent quite a bit of time researching Canadian made lighters and trying to compile a guide to the years they were made. Other collectors have already contributed, but if you have any info to add, please let me know. Since the Canadian pages disappeared off "Cool lighter" this info has not been easily available and I would like it to be as accurate as possible. www.glenzippo.co.uk/datingcanadianzippos.htmGlen
