i have a few niagra falls zippos in my collection but am not exactly sure how to date them as there is are no numbers on the bottom, apart from the pat 50 ones.how are they coded??

that's the trouble with them Jules, there are no date codes on the bottom and we have to rely upon the insert assuming it's original. cool lighter seems to have the best chart to date inserts

freespirit(the negbaur guy)has kindly sent me a book through and given me a run down on the basics,so i guess i will have to try figre them out.either that or sell them on and not worry about it anymore.lol

well done Bob! Can you please give Jules a hand with more specifics as the best I could give him (from these addled braincells) was : - 1949 - Pat. Pend bottom stamp 1950 - ??1966 Pat. 1950 " " ??1966 - ?? 1976 no date " " ??1976 -> same as US datings

picked this up on ebay the other day,does anyone know why the metal bit is inside the case,and whos w j bass?i also got a pat pending 1950 canada zippo for £3.20.will post pics when it arrives.

Strangely, I was looking for the same page last week to answer a question in the click forum, and discovered that the page in question no longer exists. I have searched the whole of the new cool lighter website but can't find it anywhere.
Zippo Manual No 6 is now your best bet
