Well I'm happy to see it's not just our computer that won't let me into the LT forums - our computer died for a few days recently a while back & I was suspecting it might have been something wrong at this end (?? incompetent operator ??)

Unfortunately I have to side with Hunter on this one... though I do not believe it is due to incompetance, etc. just lack of maagement. Although we have had the site down fora couple of days in the past, this is the longest I've seen it down and I, for one, miss it already. Hopefully someone will be able to jump start Morten and get this issue resolved.. blind hope is the only thing I'm working off of..

Only person that can solve this is Flea that we talk to and I don't even think he really gets in touch with Morten that much. It really is a bummer.

its always the server-side scripts that are the first to go.

Looks like LT is going the way of the Buffalo. I'm very disappointed with what's happened with LT, I was hoping this was all just a down period but I guess Morten really has turned his back on the site. Which brings me to another point... I'm rather disappointed with Morten. I know he's probably busy and with the DVD not selling as he expected he's probably not a happy chappy, but to turn his back on the site without any explination or asking for any help... I think that's stupid. Flea was going to get in touch with Morten by phone, but I don't think that ended up happing. Flea, think you could make that happen now that we're seeing LT's demise? The only other person I can think of is Alex. Perhaps Saint has his contact information... I'm sure Alex would be able to get in touch with Morten having worked with him on the DVD and all... just a thought. I don't think LL can replace LT for me. LT is still too familiar to me.

Agreed, no matter how hard Morten has worked on the site...this is quite saddening. He was never one to ask for help and now look what happened. The site has fallen apart. I guess it lasted as long as it could, with over 700+ tricks. There's only so many things you can talk about with Zippos that haven't already been answered. That just causes repeat posts which makes the senior members angry. We can't do anything about it and we're going to have to live with it. We gotta face it. Lighter tricks was just a fad and even if it wasn't, there's nothing new and revolutionary that's going to happen to bring it back to life.
Like all good things, they come and they go.

i cant exactly say that it was a fad, the site kept on getting bigger and more popular. members kept it running for a long time with tutorials, and numerous auctions and contests. unfortunantly no ammount of comunity effort can keep the site up if morten decides to let it shut down. even when the vids stopped bieng updated people hosted there own ones, it was and is a great site, and a big part of the zippo collecting comunity. i hope that it will be back up soon, and that mayby Flea or Alex can get back in touch with him. if you guys want i have Mortens adress, i or someone else could write him a letter.
and just remember this all happened before, i think the last time around Morten faced conciderably longer odds as well.

Agreed, it never really mattered that the site hadn't been updated, we still had the forums. Sure the "Fly-by-night" members complained but the people that stuck with it lived on through the forums. He||, even by the time it was featured in MAXIM magazine (how I found it) the updates had ceased but it didn't matter.. however now it seems they've cut the proverbial head off the snake.

The last time I spoke to Morten, over a year ago, there was talk about streamlining the site. Making it more cost affective. Plus he was working on a new site. Even got to see a couple of print screen's of it. I don't think it got off the ground. Plus with the site getting hacked about once a month, it's becoming a headache I think he would like to leave behind. I will do my best to contact Morten.
But Zippo Tricking was a fad, And now we can put it on the shelf next to the Pogs and Pet Rocks. All we can do is keep the memory alive, and Just Keep Trickin’.

Zippo tricking like flea said was a fad. If someone was to make something of it, giving tricks technical names as well as stringing tricks together it could (maybe)have been something more. But besides taking your lighter out to light a cigarette and pulling off a bond style, peoples reactions will be nothing more than a wow teach me that one.*opinion*

LMAO.. I still have my POGS... Well you mind spilling the beans on that "New site" Morten has been hiding from everyone since I even got here almost a year ago? You know... no sense in concealing a dead body, right?? OK maybe that wasn't the best analogy.. ;D

Lighter Tricks = Fad? I don't know...
I don't think lighter tricks got big enough to be called a fad and just because LT is almost gone that doesn't kill the activity. It's certainly a downer and a big chunk taken out of what community there was but it's not going to stop everybody from tricking. I'm not going to stop... I'm sure I will take breaks but I could never stop altogether.
Thanks Flea. Even if he's not willing to kickstart the site (which is probably the case) it'd be good just to see how he's doing and why he never got word out to tell us whats up.

so like i forgot about LL......
anyways maybe its just me but there are still some that are posting on the LT forums but it looks to be just all spam.
if anyone had still kept their LT stickers letter then you would know theres a number and address on it.
as for zippo tricking being a fad, i dont think so. sure it may be a fad for some people but i do think that some others just love it. i may be guilty of not keeping it up, but simply because im not really motivated to. none-the-less, its not like im gonna give up tricking and i'll always be proud of zippo tricking.

I hadn't thought about that sei... I'll look through my Zippo stuff and see if I kept the info.
